‘AGT’: What Is the Judges Callbacks Round?

Season 21 of America’s Got Talent is well underway. Now that the Auditions and judges’ deliberations are over, we know 28 acts who are moving forward to the Quarterfinals. However, there are still 16 spots to fill, which is where the new Judges’ Callback Round comes in.

Simon Cowell suggested the new round to help himself and fellow judges, Mel B., Sofia Vergara, and Howie Mandel, decide who else will head to the Live Shows. AGT is always keeping things fresh, and this is another way to do just that.

What is the Judges’ Callback Round?

The Judges’ Callback Round allows the judges’ panel to bring back a select group of hopefuls who they want to see perform a second time before choosing who will be going to the Live Shows.

Cowell, Mandel, and Mel B. each chose six acts to see again, while Vergara selected five. Of those 23, there will be 16 who move on, so seven will still be eliminated before the Quarterfinals.

Who are the Judges’ Callback Round guest judges?

The judges will be enlisting the help of some celebrity guests to help them judge the Callback Round. Cowell will be joined by producer Poo Bear and Fifth Harmony’s Naomi, while Mel B. will have a Spice Girls reunion with Emma Bunton.

Mandel’s celebrity guest is Nikki Glaser, while Vergara will be joined by Lele Pons and Sebastían Yatra.

Which acts are performing in the Judges’ Callback Round?

The acts Cowell selected to see again were Nyjah Music & Zyah Rhythm (singers), Akira (naked comedy act), Elektro Dads (dance group), Travis Garland (singer), Sando (dancer), and Elsie (singer).

Mandel picked Nene Royal (singer), Naimana and Daniele (ventriloquist comedy duo), Cris Sosa (comedian), Rynia Kando (singer/comedic impressionist), Daniel Alvarez (comedian), and Bird and Byron (rock duo).

Mel B.’s callbacks are Butter and Grit (singers), Joel M. (magician), Lachlan Patterson (comedian), Bety (singer), James & Marina (mentalist duo), and Madelyn and Malachi (singing duo).

Finally, Vergara will watch Olivia Befus (dog trainer), Brook Lynn (singer), Darrell Moten (magician), Kameron Marshall (magician), and Vahtang (beatboxer) perform again.

When is the Judges’ Callback Round

The Judges’ Callback Round will span two episodes. The first night will be on Tuesday, August 4, at 8/7c, followed by the second night on Tuesday, August 11, at 8/7c.

Once the Live Shows start on Tuesday, August 18, there will also be a one-hour Results Show added on Wednesday nights at 8/7c. This begins on August 19 and will continue for the remainder of the season.
