Brock Lesnar Is Mentoring Oba Femi Behind The Scenes In WWE

On-screen, Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi appear as fierce foes, with a Hell in a Cell match awaiting them at this weekend’s WWE SummerSlam PLE.

Femi initially defeated “The Beast” in a singles bout at WrestleMania 42. Lesnar then evened the score with an onslaught of F5s on “The Ruler” at WWE Clash In Italy. Now, the two are set to complete their trilogy inside one of WWE’s most grueling structures.

Oba Femi receives behind-the-scenes guidance from Brock Lesnar as the WWE NXT standout develops his career

According to WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Femi and Lesnar’s dynamic on television vastly differs from the one behind the scenes. In fact, Lesnar has emerged as a backstage mentor to the rising star.

“He’d probably suplex me for saying this, but Brock is hands-on with Oba Femi,” Triple H said on Busted Open (H/T Wrestling Observer). “He’s seen something special there, and he’s like, ‘Okay, kid. Come with me and I’m going to teach you — here’s all the things you gotta learn.’ He brings him into his room in the afternoon, they sit for hours and talk about this stuff.

“It’s that level of stuff that brings this next generation up and I think will take it to the next level,” he added. “I’m excited to see it. For every star that we have now sitting at the top, there’s a guy underneath them — an Oba, a Trick [Williams], a Carmelo [Hayes], Je’Von [Evans]. All these people that are sitting underneath them and soaking up this knowledge. And I think that’s going to make this next generation thrive.”

After willingly relinquishing the NXT Championship at the start of 2026, Femi ascended to WWE’s main roster. Here, his run of dominance has only intensified. In addition to besting Lesnar at “The Show of Shows,” Femi has conquered a number of other main roster stars, including his fellow King of the Ring finalist Jey Uso. Lesnar, meanwhile, claimed to be “retired” following his WrestleMania loss.
