The couple tied the knot in 2022, with a source previously telling PEOPLE Victoria Beckham’s dance with her son “wasn't appropriate”

In a lengthy post to social media on Monday, Jan. 19, Brooklyn shared his side of what caused the longstanding family feud

Brooklyn Peltz Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham are hoping video footage from their wedding, which features his mother Victoria Beckham is never seen.

One day after the Cloud 23 hot sauce CEO, 26, shared several detailed Instagram Stories about his fallout with his family, a source tells PEOPLE the couple would be mortified if footage of Victoria, 51, dancing with her son at his and Nicola’s 2022 wedding ever got out.

“Brooklyn and Nicola are the only ones who have access to video,” a source familiar with the situation tells PEOPLE.

“It’s an extremely embarrassing moment for them and it would not be good for Brooklyn’s mental health to see this circulating online,” the insider adds. “It’s one of the most humiliating moments of his life and he doesn’t want it to be seen by the world.”

Reps for Brooklyn, Nicola, Victoria, and David could not be reached for comment.

The couple tied the knot in front of their nearly 600 guests in April 2022 at the now 31-year-old’s family’s estate in Palm Beach, Fla.

In addition to Victoria, guests included her husband David Beckham, 50, and the longtime couple’s three other children, sons Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 20, and their daughter Harper, 14.

At the time a source told PEOPLE that Mel C, Serena and Venus Williams, Gordon Ramsay, and Eva Longoria were also in attendance, and the event featured a performance by Marc Anthony.

On Monday, Jan. 19, Brooklyn claimed via social media "my mum was waiting to dance with me ... She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I've never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life."

He also said his family told him Nicola was "not blood" and "not family."

PEOPLE previously reported in May 2025 that a source exclusively said Victoria left Nicola “in tears” after “ruining” the model’s first dance with her husband at their wedding.

"Marc Anthony, who is a friend of the Beckhams, offered to perform as a gift at the wedding," the source told PEOPLE at the time, adding that Brooklyn and Nicola planned to have their first dance to a specific song of his.

"Before the song began, Marc Anthony asked Brooklyn to come to the stage, and then announced, 'The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on up ... Victoria Beckham!' "

The source claimed that Nicola allegedly "felt that Victoria ruined her wedding, and couldn't understand why."

"It was such a jaw-dropping moment that it left the whole room in absolute shock — you could hear a pin drop," a second source told PEOPLE.

The insider added that guests were even more surprised when Victoria began slow dancing with Brooklyn.

"It wasn't appropriate," the source said of the alleged moment, adding that everyone then saw "Nicola run from the room crying."

"Nicola felt like Victoria did this on purpose, when she knew it was a pre-planned romantic dance meant for Brooklyn and Nicola. What she couldn't understand was why."

In Brooklyn’s lengthy post on Monday, he also stated, “My wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one. My [mum] has [repeatedly] invited women from my past into our lives in ways that were clearly intended to make us both uncomfortable.”

He later added, “I do not want to reconcile with my family.”

Earlier this month, a source with knowledge of the situation then told PEOPLE that “David and Victoria have repeatedly asked Brooklyn and Nicola to meet and talk in order to move forward," amid the family's ongoing rift.

"David loves his kids. They are his everything," the insider added.

A rep for David and Victoria did not respond to PEOPLE's request for comment on Monday.
