American Horror Story announced the cast of its next season.

The list included Wicked star Ariana Grande.

The news was posted on Halloween.

On October 31, American Horror Story announced that Wicked star Ariana Grande would be joining the cast for the show’s 13th season. Ryan Murphy Productions posted a simple text Reel on Instagram with cast names in alphabetical order and Grande popped up.

The names were set to the song “I’ll Be Seeing You” by Vera Lynn and included some glimpses of future horrors with the message, “Surprise, bitch. I bet you thought you’d seen the last of me.”

Though she is a newcomer to the cast, Grande worked with Murphy on Fox’s Scream Queens in 2015, so they have a history. The rest of Murphy’s regular cast seem excited to welcome her. In January 2026, Evan Peters told E! News, “What doesn’t she bring to the cast? She’s an incredible performer and actress, and I think that’s gonna be awesome to have her on board.”

Peters continued, “I’m excited to see what’s gonna be in the season. I haven’t read anything yet, so I’m curious what it’s gonna be, what’s it gonna have her doing. It’s exciting.”

In a January 2025 interview with Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast, Grande talked about how being in Wicked made her want to perform more as an actor rather than a pop star when she was asked about “what’s next” for her career.

“I have no idea,” she stated. “Right now, I’m so focused on Wicked and taking it all in. But I know I want to stay in this world for a while. Acting feels like home to me in a way I didn’t expect. It’s such a joy to tell stories, whether it’s through music, film or comedy. I want to keep growing and exploring.”

When will season 3 of American Horror Story be released?

The series is expected to return in October 2026. Season 12, called Delicate, aired in two parts, concluding in April 2024.
