Oxfordshire, England, Truck Fest attendees reported severe food poisoning allegedly after eating wraps from a now-closed food stall
The festival’s medical team launched an investigation and removed the vendor within 90 minutes of initial complaints
Festival organizers told PEOPLE in a statement, “We share the disappointment and frustration of those whose weekend was affected.”
Concertgoers at a popular festival reported being severely sickened with food poisoning allegedly after eating at a food stall, with some saying they ended up missing the bands because they were having diarrhea in the portable bathrooms.
“Shall we discuss the elephant in the room...Who else got food poisoning ... having the trots with those toilets is NOT for the faint of heart,” posted an anonymous commenter on July 27 to a Facebook group dedicated to Truck Fest. The annual music festival in Oxfordshire hosts campsites — from pitch-your-own-tent locations to more luxe campervan and glamping accommodations — for the three-day festival, which kicked off July 23.
According to reports, attendees claim the source of the food poisoning was wraps with a choice of meat— and left many concertgoers trying to manage diarrhea in mobile bathrooms, or leaving the festival entirely.

“I was fighting for life in those portaloos all I wanted was my own bed,” wrote one concertgoer.
Another, who was staying in the pricier Zodiac section which had more upscale facilities, wrote that “Luckily had Zodiac loos but it wasn’t fun having to miss bands for trips there all day yesterday.”
A spokesperson for Truck Fest tells PEOPLE, “On Sunday morning, our on-site medical team received reports from a number of attendees with similar symptoms. Our Health and Safety team launched an immediate investigation and identified a third-party food vendor as the suspected source. That vendor was removed from operation within 90 minutes of the first report. We reported our findings to the local Environmental Health Officer the same day and are supporting their ongoing investigation into the cause. We share the disappointment and frustration of those whose weekend was affected.”
After the booth was shut down, a commenter claimed the stall “said it was due to oven issues but 99% sure it’s because we were all sh–ting.”
While Truck Fest did act quickly, afflicted concertgoers were still struggling with symptoms long after the stall was closed, with at least one attendee saying they ended up in the hospital after having bloody diarrhea. The doctors were “running tests on my samples as they suspect food poisoning.”

That attendee said they’d had the pork sandwich — which was mentioned several times in the thread as the source.

“Had one Saturday evening (pork smasher) now got the worst food poisoning of my life. Had to come home. Still ill now absolutely gutted I missed all of sunday,” one commenter wrote.
One festival attendee, however, wrote that they suspected the chicken was the culprit. “I had one Thursday night, but thankfully noticed the chicken wasn’t cooked before I ate any. Reported it to them, but they basically told me my eyes were lying to me and it wasn’t pink - so kept my £17,” the commenter wrote on the Facebook thread.
“It soon became clear that a lot of people were ill. A couple camping next to us were in the medical tent all day on Sunday,” one festival attendee told Daily Mail. “I saw a lot of people repeatedly rushing to the toilets which were mobbed. The medical tent was handing out Imodium left right and centre.”
PEOPLE has reached out to Event Mobile Catering, which operates the stall in question, for comment.
A spokesperson for the Vale of White Horse said they were aware of a “potential food poisoning outbreak,” per Oxford Mail. The statement continued: “Truck Festival reported the issue to us and said that a number of festival goers reported the food poisoning symptoms to the medical tent. From this, after some investigations, they were able to quickly identify a potential source and Truck Festival closed the stand.”
“We are investigating the issue and are working with the food business, Truck Festival, UKHSA and the trader’s own local registering authority.”
