Royal Family Reveals Plans to Celebrate Queen Elizabeth's 100th Birthday, Including a Party with Cake

A new Queen Elizabeth Memorial design and a garden in Regent’s Park will be unveiled as part of the celebrations

The British royal family is gearing up to commemorate the centenary of the late Queen Elizabeth's birth.
On April 10, Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles, Queen Camilla and other members of the royal family will attend events recognizing what would have been Queen Elizabeth's 100th birthday on April 21.
The King's mother died at age 96 in September 2022 during the 70th year of her reign, making her the longest-serving sovereign in British history.
The festivities will begin on Monday, April 20, when King Charles, 77, and Queen Camilla, 78, visit the new Royal Collection Trust exhibit, Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style, at the King's Gallery at Buckingham Palace. The display, opening today, is the largest-ever exhibit of the late Queen’s fashion and features pieces from all ten decades of her long life, including some items never publicly displayed before.
On Tuesday, April 21 — the late Queen's birthday — King Charles, Queen Camilla and other members of the royal family will check out the design recommendations for The Queen Elizabeth Memorial at the British Museum. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and other members of the Queen Elizabeth Memorial Committee, including Chair, Lord Janvrin (a former private secretary to the late Queen), will also attend.
The royals will see a scale model of the Queen Elizabeth Memorial and meet the artists producing works for the site, before both the scale model and the artists' maquettes remain on public display for people to see.

On the same day, the King's sister, Princess Anne, will officially open The Queen Elizabeth II Garden in Regent’s Park, London. The garden is designed as a tranquil and fully accessible space for reflection in the heart of bustling London and opens to the public on April 27.

The festivities are due to conclude with a reception at Buckingham Palace on April 21 hosted by the King, Queen, and other members of the royal family. The royal reception will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Queen Elizabeth, reflecting on her life and legacy.
In a touching tribute to her devotion to duty, guests will include representatives from several of the late Queen's hundreds of patronages, including Cancer Research U.K., the British Red Cross Society, the Jockey Club, the Royal Kennel Club and the Army Benevolent Fund.
Special guests at the event will be other centenarians ringing in their 100th birthdays, and birthday cake will be served. Those celebrating their birthdays will also receive cards from King Charles, who traditionally sends out special messages for U.K. residents marking the milestone.

King Charles will also mark the 100th anniversary of his mother's birth with a special address celebrating her life and legacy, according to The Mirror.
