Industry scooper MyTimeToShineHello claims Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as Hulk in Avengers: Secret Wars. The X account posted the rumor on July 29, adding that Ruffalo’s Hulk “is crazier than you think in Brand New Day.” The scooper also teased Spider-Man facing off against both Hulk and Wolverine this year.
The mention of Spider-Man versus Hulk likely refers to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which features Bruce Banner’s Savage Hulk persona. In that film, Banner regresses from his Smart Hulk form and loses control despite wearing an inhibitor device. The Savage Hulk’s return marks the character’s first uncontrollable MCU appearance since Avengers: Infinity War.

Meanwhile, the Spider-Man versus Wolverine tease may connect to Marvel Comics rather than the MCU. Marvel recently announced Infernal Hulk Vs. Wolverine #1 as the first in a series of one-shots launching in September. Writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson described the issue as part of “the final act of our story that Nic Klein and I started with Incredible Hulk #1 in 2023.”
